Ever sat on your compass and broke it in two? or left it behind on a rock when you were eating a sausage roll two valleys ago? or worse still, had one of those moments when you’re so lost and confused that you’re sure that it’s de-polarised and that north is south?

The Field 11 is a safety compass designed to be used as a back up in case something goes wrong with your other, or if you just want to double check that nothing weird has happened to it. Everyone has doubted their compass as some point or other, and doubt wastes time whilst you get colder and colder.

It doesn’t have a bezel, (that thing with 360° degrees on that you turn round), so you can’t take a bearing from it, but it will tell you where north is. It also comes with a built in whistle in case you really are having a bad day. It’s also very small, so there’s no excuse not to always have it with you in your coat pocket.
