Sue’s review
This is ideal for running or for summer time walking, or even cold dry day walking. ‘Why not just put your lightweight waterproof on?’ i hear you say. Well, waterproofs are heavier and they don’t breathe as much as this (which is 100% breathable) so on a warm day you end up sticky and clammy and just too hot. This smock will keep a good deal of the weather off whilst being soft and comfortable and quiet, and so light you won’t know you’ve got it on.
I use mine for running, and it is the piece of kit i wear most often. It is really lightweight, but with some important features which are missing from many similar smocks. The best one being the hood, which is a proper hood with a decent wired peak and volume adjusters. I’ve worn mine in torrential rain, and because i’ve nikwaxed it, it keeps most of the rain out. In fact i don’t think i’ve ever felt that i’ve been wet in it. (Although i must stress that this is not technically waterproof). It also has decent cuffs and a pocket. Here’s me in mine…
